What made you decide to help people to lose weight by becoming a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

After initially attending Scottish Slimmers as a member and then reaching target weight, I was bullied/coaxed by my then Class Manager to apply for the job as Scottish Slimmers were looking at opening classes in the area where I lived.

What do you love about being a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

I can honestly say after 23 years, I still love the job I do and get a real buzz and lots of job satisfaction helping my members achieve their goals.

Sandy Fleming - meet Sandy in Central Scotland

What made you decide to help people to lose weight by becoming a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

I managed to lose six-and-a-half stone with Scottish Slimmers then was lucky to reach the Finals of Slimmer of the Year 2008. It was there that I got ‘chatting’ to Scottish Slimmers staff and realised that being a Class Manager was a productive way of passing on my success to others.

What’s a perfect Sunday for you?

A long walk by the river with my family, followed by a visit to Starbucks!

What has been your most memorable moment in class?

The first time I ever rang the bell for a Target Member was special. The Scottish Slimmers Slimmer of the Year 2013 Judith Taylor is one of my members - and I am very proud about that!

What’s your idea of food heaven – and hell?

Heaven – Scallops
Hell - Cheese

Finally, what would you say to someone who is thinking about coming along to your Scottish Slimmers class?

It’s the best decision you’ll ever make for yourself. You won’t find a better or easier place to lose weight.

What made you decide to help people to lose weight by becoming a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

After losing 6st 4lbs with Scottish Slimmers I became a class assistant, then after a few years I felt it was time for me to help and support others on their weight loss journey.

What do you love about being a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

Seeing the difference it makes to peoples life’s, also how their confidence changes. It makes it all very rewarding.

Sunday roast dinner with family, and then catch up on all the coronation streets that I have missed with my onesie on.

Ringing the target bell for the first time.

Don’t put it off any longer, it’s the best life changing decision you will ever make.

Jean Howden - meet Jean in Ayrshire and Renfrewshire

What made you decide to help people to lose weight by becoming a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

I couldn’t think of a more rewarding and satisfying job. Being overweight all my life (until I joined Scottish Slimmers) I knew what I felt like to be overweight and unhappy. Once I had lost my weight, I felt it would be great to help other people turn their lives around. I felt I had a good understanding of how they would be feeling and I could share my experiences with them.

What do you love about being a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

Where do you want me to start? Everything! The classes, the members, the job satisfaction, the flexibility of the job, the fun with the members, the weight losses, the transformation of the members, ringing the target bell, the stories the members share with you (good and bad). The whole package – “The best job in the world.”

What has been your most memorable moment in class?

There have been a lot, but when I rang the target bell for my daughter who had been overweight all her life, it was the most incredible feeling. We both shed bucket loads of tears. For teenagers to lose weight is an amazing experience – it turns their lives around and lets them enjoy what most slim teenagers take for granted.

What’s your idea of food heaven – and hell?

Heaven: Steak, mash and loads of veg
Hell: Liver and onions

Finally, what would you say to someone who is thinking about coming along to your Scottish Slimmers class?

Definitely the best move you’ll ever make. It will change your life. It changed my weight, my career, my life. Don’t say I’ll wait til next week – bite the bullet and go now!

What made you decide to help people to lose weight by becoming a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

I was a member in class and loved the buzz and wanted to be part of it and help members achieve their success at the scales.

What do you love about being a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

Well I love the job because as I said you are part of the buzz! It is wholly a social job - meeting people, the enjoyment we all have, everything about it!

What made you decide to help people to lose weight by becoming a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

After losing weight myself I decided to try a relief manager position. I loved it and decided that I would like a class of my own and the rest is history.

What do you love about being a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

Everyone is different with different situations like work, family, relationships, eating habits etc. Scottish Slimmer's has a plan to suit everyone to help them reach their goal.

What has been your most memorable moment in class?

When one of my members lost a stone in their first week, I thought I had read the scales wrong, and checked, and then double checked! It turns out it was right and the reason for the big loss was fluid! Amazing weight loss!

I attended classes before as a member, and lost a lot of weight, I felt it was very easy to follow and worked for me.

What made you decide to help people to lose weight by becoming a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

Losing over 4 stone in 7 months with Scottish Slimmer’s has changed my life for the better. I am more confident mentally and physically which has helped me make positive changes to my life. What a privilege it is now as a Class Manager to help others make that positive change.

What do you love about being a Scottish Slimmers Class Manager?

After winning the Inspiration award in 2013 I really wanted to Inspire! Becoming a Class Manager gives me the perfect opportunity to do this. Being able to give others the tools and encouragement required to achieve their weight loss and seeing the results is a fantastic reward that you don’t get in many jobs.

Coaching football despite never playing football in my life. When I lost weight I trained hard to become a football coach. I now coach two youth teams and I love it.

What’s a perfect Sunday for you?

A lazy morning before getting out of the house and doing something fun with my two children.

Finally, what would you say to someone who is thinking about coming along to your Scottish Slimmers class?

Just do it. Stop putting it off until tomorrow. Time goes by so quick so why not put that time to good use and achieve your goals. At Scottish Slimmer’s I can support you to make that change. The plan is easy to follow and there is no reason to go hungry. I did it, so can you.
