10 Simple Self Care Tips
Taking care of yourself can sound like such a simple task, but you would be surprised at how many of us just don't dedicate the time to relax, slow down and take stock. This allows us to fall into neglectful and often dangerous patterns when it comes to our health and wellbeing, such as, eating on the go, staying up 'til the small hours and constantly rushing to cram every aspect of our schedules into one day.
First, stop, take a breath and take some time to care for yourself. If you're not sure where to start, we have compiled a list of our top self-care tips to implement into your day-to-day life:
1. Switch off once a day
Unplug all devices, switch off your phone and take some time completely to yourself. Before bed, make sure you reduce screen time to ensure a restful sleep.
2. Take the time to sit down and eat
A lost art in Scotland! Dedicate some time for at least one meal a day where you simply sit and eat. No phones, no television and no work, simply take the time to enjoy your meal.
3. Organise your space
Declutter your space and your mind. This could be at work or your favourite space at home. Create a more productive and happy space by binning the clutter and ridding your life of anything you don't need.
4. Laugh at least once a day
Laughter is the best form of medicine, laughing with friends, family or co-workers at least once a day can give you the endorphin boost your body is looking for.
5. Take yourself out for a date
It doesn't have to be a three-course dinner at a fancy restaurant. Take yourself to the cinema, cook your favourite meal or do something adventurous, just make sure it's all for you.
6. Have a good stretch
Release the tensions you have been carrying by having a stretch every morning and evening before bed.
7. Go out for a walk
Another great way to release endorphins is to exercise, and going for a morning, afternoon or evening walk will help you feel fitter and more energised in the long run.
8. Create an upbeat playlist

9. Have a home spa day
Spa days can be expensive, so why not run yourself a bath, pop on a face-mask and indulge in a long, relaxing soak at home.
10. Do something you love
The best way to take care of you is to do something that you enjoy. Whether thats shopping, watching a movie or going for a run, make sure you take the time to do something you love at least once a week!
