Skippy sounds like you had a nice day with hubby today, Im impressed a proper tablecloth and napkins for xmas day. when are you off over xmas?
Dawn sounds like you had a good night on Friday and you are all organised with your xmas food shop, you will get that bottle of Bailleys out of loft at long last lol
Di you sound more organised now, any news on an interview yet? is it back to work for you tomorrow
Marion hope you are doing just fine, at least you have xmas off. When we had our Offshore Dept I had to work the 26th Dec and 2nd Jan and as you say there was no traffic it was great. Hope you are all set for xmas and being a good girl so santa might bring your necklace and earrings
Audrey hope you are OK and that your back has improved
MB is your daughter home yet?Nice that your 15 years old is all excited bout xmas
Nicky you will be on your way to see your future in laws

Im sure you will be just fine
Well thats weekend over. Went to Mums yesterday with Auntie and then we went in past cemetry on way home with our xmas wreaths. Today did housework all morning even cleaned windows and put up new curtains then went out looking for a new rug but didnt see anything I fancied. Then went into see Uncle in the afternoon as everyone else was busy he wasnt expecting anyone so he was chuffed to see me, went for our cuppie tea and fine piece. Its a shame for hygiene and germ reasons they arent allowed a xmas tree or decorations so doesnt feel very christmassy on ward at all
Oh well enough rambling on at least Ive only got 1 day to work this week
Have a good Monday one and all

I am working -shame.... right up to Christams eve....double shame!!! At least it's quiet. House looks all festive - I counted 38 candles in the living room - hubby will be standing by with a fire extinguisher if I put them all on!!!! Tree still has quite a lot of chocolates on which is a miracle. Off to pick up my bird from M & S tonight and get final food shopping and then I am done.
The last of my granny's family - my last auntie - died last week and it is her funeral today up north but I am not going - it is followed by interment in Lanarkshire so I can't get 2 days off work to go to it. My mum is off up though. Sad at this time of year, but she was 93, so had a long life. Good job mum is coming to me and not doing Christmas at her house - that would be too much strees for her! She can just arrive at mine on Christams eve and put her feet up.
I have already started on the nibbles, and the Smirnoff I bought for Christams -getting in the festive mood already!! Hoping my boss will pop in by with a bottle of something nice for me at some point.........he put a tin of Quality Street into the main office, but I do expect something else!!!!
Have a good day all!

oooo Carol lucky you some nice sounding gifts there
we are not giving each other anything this year, we bought two rabbit hutches not long ago so said that was our Christmas spending money spent!!!
We started speaking last night about next years holiday too so that cheered me up as we'd been thinking we might not go anywhere with the work situation being what it is so we'll see!!!
Well he said this morning i'll take you out for lunch before I play golf ........... wasn't very hungry this morning so decided not to have breakfast then i would really enjoy lunch got to the golf club and they have some oldies lunch on today so not doing food for anyone else!!!!!!!!! Lunch ended up being a diet irn bru and a packet of salt and vinegar crisps which after I'd eaten most of them discovered they were two days out of date told the bar maid and got 40p back !!
am starving now..........................

We said we would not do christmas presents for each other this year but start saving up for holidays, but then I did buy one....so he is getting a portable DVD player which I hope he likes!! He has also got something for me - phew!! So there will be something for me under the tree..went to get some shopping at lunchtime and I am now starting on my overdraft - how depressing!! and M & S is still to be done, and my flowers.....
Coldplay tickets is a brilliant surprise Carol - their faces will be a picture!!!! I love doing things like that. Best one I did was got a ticket to Man United at Old Trafford, booked flights and hotel, then gave him a big envelope with lots of smaller envelopes inside. Each envelope had clues and poems and pictures, then ending up with a tiny envelope with the ticket for last.......his face was brilliant...... I should have taken a photo!!!

Afternoon ladies
.... Back to my usual place of work now so been busy as its been a month since last been, had to get organised for xmas working and new year, the lassie covering did a good job but its the little niggly things that need sorting but just about there.
Pat not a very good time of year for any deaths no matter what they're age, good job your mum is coming to you for R&R
I went up yesterday to grave to put my flowers on and good job I didn't manage last friday and had hubby wi me......my brothers name is on the headstone..no consultation with me..although not on speaking terms I would have thought I would get told that at least. REALLY angry and upset, hubby didn'a really help as he said I did know was going to happen [ye right, maybe but like a'thing else I've been the last one to find out even B4 a the shenanigans] To rub my nose in it even further my brother sent cards to his v. special nephews..so sprc he forgot eldest birthday last month............I suppose you get he drift how angry/upset/murderous I'm feeling, and here was me feeling guilty..
Back to xmas..........I told hubby not to buy necklace 4 me too much. so don't know what I'll be getting. last minute parceling tonight. We don't put anything under tree before xmas morning. too tempting. Dawn bloody annoying you not getting your lunch bet Kenny got his golf tho!!! I would still be looking for a pressie as wellCarol you lucky b****r. ...

Marion

to you - I know it's a hard time. Since I am "estranged" from my sister after many shenanigans it makes things a bit difficult too. Poor mum is stuck in the middle. Cards and presents have come to her "special" neices - she hasn't seen them for 2.5 years, but it makes me look like a real old bag for not sending anything to her kids. But I have to stick to my decision even though it's hard. Special hugs to all of us who are having family issues or missing loved ones just now.

we all need tlc!!!!!
i went to matalan at lunchtime and got a novelty santa wreath for my mum, dad and brother!!!
gary is scattered at potarch park - near to his accident, dad interned with his mum and dad at the trinity and mum scattered with her mum and dad at the crem.... ( remember she got married again so it was a compromise as it doesnt matter where her ashes are I know she is with dad!!! )
so rather than try and get to 3 different places, i will put it at the crem - i am sure they will smile at the snowman!!!!
marion - its soooo difficult which is why i am trying to keep busy but im starting to feel quite low totm doesnt help so need to pick myself up!!!!!
planning on going out with hubby and friends for a couple of drinks xmas eve... so will try and get as much prepared during the day as i can......
pat - hubby comes from a big family with a lot of fallings in and out, and sometimes cutting ties is the best thing...........

Good evening ladies.
Just back from Asda at Portlethen and now have everything I need for Xmas ,except for aynt bessies roasters-none left!Might try tomorrow at Somerfield,or could make my own.
Here's a group hug for all of you

as I think you could all do with one.Dave doesn't really communicate with one of his brothers either-he treats Dave like a kid at times,so condescending.
Interview is around 8th January, sister at work phoned me on Saturday to let me know=have to go prepared to talk about Knowledge and Skills framework and how it fits into band 6 post-will have my homework to do then!
Skippy you are one lucky lady, think its slippers and a new hairdryer for me-very practical I am.
Dawn mmm.... Thorntons special toffee.
MB I have spent all my overdraft and am now onto the credit card.
Marion,is your son really dissapointed?Hope you get something nice from your OH,and just make sure you get some help with that box of Thorntons.
Ona you had a really busy weekend, hope today is more relaxed.
Am working tomorrow then off 24th/25th,back 26th through to 30th,off 31st/1st,back 2nd ,then things should start to get back to normal.

Keep away from that Thorntons toffee nae good for the filling. It is so moreish though you can just taste the cream oozing from it

Ona I was in Sainsburys too last night - people buying mountains of stuff, but there was no queue at the checkout. I went in for Iced Tea and Diet lemonade and spent £61.50 of my overdraft - some Hagen Daz fell in the trolley when I wasn't looking along with salt and vinegar twirls -I love them!
Its official now though - I am sick of Quality Street and we haven't even got to Christmas Eve!!! Second tin got opened by the kids last night and there is a tin at work.... still waiting for my boss to give me my Christmas present - he gave me a single Thorntons chocolate yesterday out of a HUGE box he was wandering round with...
I am doing no work - been very lazy at it is so quiet. Been printing off cocktail recipes from the net and think I will research my trip to Poland today. Will be gettnig my P45 if anyone finds out I am doing nothing!!
Mum phoned last night from Edinburgh - service was up north, then down to Edinburgh and off to Lanarkshire for interment today. She will be tired with all the travelling about, but at least she is getting taken by my cousin's daughter in the car so doesn't have to faff with public transport.
I am getting excited about Christmas!!!!!! How is everyone today??

Marion - hoping to go to Poland end April/start of May with my mum and my pal (one I went to Turkey with)...oh and my uncle from London is now hoping to come- will end up as a pensioners outing at this rate! I am really interested in WW2 and in particular the Holocaust (now, you never knew that about me did you??!!) and I have always wanted to go to visit the camps. Read so many books, and I have always wanted to visit there.
So plan is to do that, and stay in Krakow for 4 - 5 days. Got quite a lot of info printed off today when I should have been working...it will fulfil a lifetime ambition - I have decided to start in 2009 to do all the things I have always wanted to do but have never got round to...realising that life is too short for regrets. I may also be spotted in a wetsuit at some point after I do my scuba course..... but that won't be in Poland of course!
I have not opened my secret santa - looks interesting - several items in a bag, and one of my team has given me a beautifully wrapped gift - I think it may well be a book I mentioned I liked.....it would appeal to all of us if it is. I saw it in Waterstones and nearly wet myself laughing - several people came up and asked me if I was ok because I was actually crying with laughter. It's called the Wendy I think, like one of those annuals we used to get when we were little, but for middle aged wifies!!! Hilarious!! Think it is a Jenny Eclair creation. Ye gods - holocaust and Jenny Eclair - I am indeed a cosmopolitan women of varied tastes!!!

have just had George and Mildred out for a run around alas George is no longer a baby bunny if you know what i mean !!
He and Mildred looked well up for a bit of " bunny buisness " so poor George was grabbed and put back behind bars to protect Mildred's innocence
Will have to be careful in the future since they are not married we dont want any scandal at our door
enjoy getting your hair and nails done Carol and hope the wreath laying isn't too upsetting for you

( I know thats a daft thing to say but you know what i mean )
Mb I dont know if I could go and visit the camps I think I would find it very upsetting, found it really upsetting at Ground Zero in New York but kind of glad i went in a funny kind of way ( on saying that I wouldn't go again )
Carol wow what a fab secret santa

at my last work we picked names from a hat and bought for a particular person I always found it hard as I always seemed to pick someone I didn't know very well so quite like the way we do it
Marion hope you have finished " your rounds " as its after three
Think i might have to bring down the baileys from the loft just to make sure its in good condition for Christmas Day

Pat, thats a snap,,,,,,one of the reasons we went to Prague. as it was the only place seemingly the gerries didn'na plunder. Didn't get as far as the camps in Prague the synagogues were enough..I read heaps o books and like ww2 esp. Read one on a young jew who 'worked' for the nazi in Krakow castle, also one in Brussles. Just finished 'My enemy's Cradle'. Canna get enough o them think I've exhausted the SOE ones. Just thinks its something we should 'never forget'. Need to have a break from the serios books might perouse that one for myself.
Dawn you might hae an extended family shortly........

Hello ladies
Woo hoo I can sit in my computer chair (for 10 minutes at the most
) I have only been able to stand or lie down, try eating your meals lying down, messy to say the least. It IS getting better, thank goodness, managed to drive yesterday, but oh me, it's comical to see me getting in and oot the car. Right glad I got the christmas cleaning oot the road.
OH and I were in Elgin at 8am this morning, his car had it's 1st MOT, so we spent the morning up town, it was fine, nice and quiet at that time. We were in nearly all the shops (once they opened that is
) just having a browse. We also went into the shoe shop that has Radley bags, and guess what, OH said that I could pick any one for my christmas/birthday present, so I am now the proud owner of a Radley bag
can't stop grinning every time I think of it, keep going into the bedroom to look at it and "sniff" it (sorry toooo weird I know) but I just love the smell of new leather, so you are not the only one with a new bag Carol
We are having our Christmas Day tomorrow, confusing I know, but with OH working all Christmas Day, we decided to make it Christmas Eve, Amy and her hubby David, are coming up at 1pm and going to stay for tea as well, but we are NOT having turkey, David has seen enough turkey to last a lifetime, he's a chef and has lost count of the number of turkey dinners he has served up these last couple of weeks, so I am making lasagne
and even though I do say so myself, my lasagne is delicious
Crikey, I have waffled on a bit. Have to move now getting sore. Hope to be back for the online party later
Hope you are all fine, and a great big
to us all

Morning Champagners and Merry Christmas!!! I feel like Dawn that I have been over doing it and we haven't even got to Christmas yet. I am wearing jeans today and they are a tad nippit!!
All shopping finally done and not long to go at work now - very quiet here but I am actually working today. No sign of my Christmas present from my boss, although he is in today!!!
Just had a latte and a cookie from Costa - didn't reallly need it though.....
Looking forward to going home - hubby has made a brilliant job of cleaning the oven and it is gleaming now. Fridge is full and all's alright with the world except that I feel very large today!!!!!
Bargain Audrey - well done! I understand totally about the sniffing thing - us women like doing that!! (and feeling clothes in shops....)

Good afternoon -just-.
I love new leather too esp if it comes looking like a handbag , not too keen on the radleys tho

.....Glad the back is easing off Audrey, the walking in town would have helped it along as well.
Di, this manflu-virus is blooming awful, had it my holiday week and still got the night time cough left over, so plenty tlc fae Dave and the kids me think.
Carol I leave my broth till new year
always do 2 pots broth in homemade tomato...........
Pat, you never know it might be something EXTRA special your getting, all our managers give us is home bakes [tradition] shortbread, in choc crispies WOW- I know its the thought that counts -choke--
Hubby in town getting my pressie, so I think I love him today

!!!!!!!!
Not too busy work ways roads quiet so scooting through, petrol in the car and a quick pop in to sainsbury's for a sannie. Went in to a couple this morning and was told the 'gold bag is for you nurses'

It was massive..full o goodies so took it back to his own DN base and they can sort it out.... too too generous. Got another wrapped up pressie from someone I visit once a week, we all get one and its really nice BUT feel guilty at having to accept , I'm happy wi a card.
Didna get to on-line party hubby had taken out router to teach youngest a lesson

Hi
Feeling a bit better today.
Had kids down to dentist first thing.
Soup is on,always make it day before as second day's soup is always better.Turkey is stuffed and at bottom of fridge ready to go on later ,usually do it day before too so it just needs carving and a reheat in microwave tomorrow.
Have made bottom layer of trifle and its in fridge too.Like to have most things ready so only have minimal stuff to do tomorrow.
Domestic goddess or what-have also just finished making a batch of cookies with Erin and her pal ,as they are both a wee bit high today---hmmm,wonder why?Thought it would keep them occupied for a while.
Bottle or Rose in fridge for the evening.
Going to family Christmas service at church this evening, its a puppet show and the kids have a great time,a different slant on the Christmas story.
Skippy can't you go back to shop with one gateaux,I wouldn't like not to have trifle at Christmas.Poor you ---totm we can all do without at this busy time.Sounds like you've had a busy day so far, hope you find the time to have a wee sit down and relax later .
Dawn hope you managed to find something suitable to wear to work and enjoy that Baileys tonight.
MB ,no doubt you will be home by now ,hope the boss swung by with something for you.We get a £5 gift voucher for Boots at Christmas, but only if we didn't go to night out as money gets put in the kitty. We also all get something from the "raffle",mine was tin of Celebrations, all the patients give us a gift at Christmas so its better that everyone gets something.
Marion hope hubby gets you something nice and as for the work pressies-the joys of working for the NHS,eh?
Audrey thats a great bargain on the bag.
Hope you all have a really lovely Christmas ,enjoy your day and try to find some time to relax(easy said I know!)
