y_cry.gif Hello everyone, I am a long term SS member, but newby to the forums. I am hoping to lose 9-10 lbs, I know its not an awful lot, but it is to me! I have been unsuccessfully trying to lose since March this year, and seem to have two good weeks then give up and go back to stuffing my face at nights with chocolate! I do heaps of exercise and running, but it seems the fitter I get, the more junk I eat and my weight goes up! I am getting so demotivated and starting to think whats the point. But I dont want to give up. Any advice?

Hey

Not sure if I can give advice, just wanted to say that the more exercise you do the more food your body will need. I guess it's just a case of picking 'good' food over 'bad' food! I still allow myself the bad stuff, but now think about it more as a treat than every day food!

Just keep thinking that in 2 months time (or even sooner!), if you stick to PEP you could have shifted those 10 lbs! Maybe try to envisage how you're going to feel and look when you lose those 10lbs!

I quite often save up checks for the evening (usually 4 for a packet of squares and 3 for a chocolate mousse), which satisfies my snack cravings!!

Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck losing those 10lbs! Oh, and welcome to the forum xx

Well I've had a bit of a bad week (didn't get to my WI on Wed because of work and haven't been entirely PEP perfect this weekend) but today have managed to get myself sorted out again which is probably why I sound super organised!! hehe laugh.gif

Good luck! If you ever need a chat just PM me xx

Gillian, SS is geared towards the average woman with a moderately sedentary lifestyle. If you do loads of exercise then you are unusual amongst us on here and, if I were you, I would tailor the plan to take account of this, by adding in a little extra food, maybe a banana and/or a glass of milk and/or a handful of seeds on top of your PEP allowance every day. Eat this straight after your run as an extra to keep you going til you have cooked a proper meal. (The PEP doesn't allow this, this is my own personal advice!)

Don't forget that quality is more important than quantity as far as diet is concerned... check that you are getting enough fibre to fill you up and enough nutrients to keep you healthy. www.nutritiondata.com is a good tool for this.

Don't leave it until you get too hungry before you start thinking about what to have for your next meal, remember, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail".

I really admire you, it will be great to have another fittie on here along with us more slothful ones.... wink.gif But don't feel entirely alone, there are quite a handful with enviable fitness routines, maybe start a thread asking them to reveal themselves and you will pick up some good tips from them.

Take care,

Thank you all so much for making me feel welcome and your wise words! Already I dont feel so isolated between classes and WI's. Had a PEP perfect day, and it was mainly thanks to your motivating comments.

Hope you are all having good days, I decided ok, its start of a new month and start of a new effort.
I have come to the conclusion that i have been kidding myself that due to all the exercise I do I can eat anything I want and lots of it - this is so not true in my case!!

I will def take the advice to start a thread about weight and fitness - good advice.

oh just a wee note, you posted in 'mind over matter', which is fine, but not everyone reads it, so usually better to post in 'getting to know each other' smile.gif

Maybe something you should think about is how your exercising. If your going to the gym 3 days a week, try swimming 1 night instead or go for brisk walk. You can get into a routine with PEP (ready my entry from last week) but you can get into a rountine with exercise. Your body learns to adapt to how you are exercising so vary what you are doing.

My brother works beside a PT instructor, he gave him a few suggestion to help lose wait. If your on the treadmill, brisk walk for a minute, run for a minute then brisk walk again. Your body doesn't get a chance to adapt to how you are training. It's worth a shot, I started that myself this week and I'll let you know how I get on.

Ashamed to say that my brother has joined the darkside, went to WW. y_woot.gif
