I am on week 3 of my PEPing, but feeling my motivation begining to wander.... y_scared.gif

How does everyone keep themselves motivated??? I'm so early on - it's ridiculous really to lose motivation already

My pal suggested hanging up an item i want to fit into, but done that before and it doesn't work for me. I took a pic of my mii character on my mobile phone and have set it as my wallpaper, but it's depressing - a wee chubby "me" - might just change it again shucks.gif

Any tips/ideas????? x

I have my third wi on Monday, my motivation is still good (other than my blip earlier - standing on the scales). I intend giving myself a small treat when I lose 1/2 a stone, so 2lb to go. Think I might get a new nail varnish for my first treat smile.gif

Here is Jen, Julie, Jaci and I's motivation.

We are going to have a spa day later in the year.

Providing we are good girls we are going to treat ourself to a pamper day. Looks and sounds good. Oh and of course there will be some shopping and lunch/dinner invovled too.

Hi shirls! I've started out so many times and find that after week three I get a bit bored and my motivation wears off (because I am impatient rolleyes.gif ).

I think the key is to remember this isn't a diet and it will take time to get to target because you are making healthy changes along the way. I think it does help to set goals for yourself.

The clothes idea doesn't work for me either - is there something you want to do - train for something or exercise/fitness goals? Or maybe there is something you've wanted to buy for yourself - you could put money away towards it each time you lose...

Also, the spa day is a great idea, something to look forward to whilst getting skinnier and then pampering yourself. I have a 'before' pic on my phone I refer to also...

I'm a bit rubbish at thinking of other things because currently my goals are fitness related...so look forward to other suggestions also. x

Hey Shirls!

Most of my life has been a permanent diet!! SS is the only diet that works for me and due to the area I live in I have been forced to join other slimming groups that provide classes in my area in order to face the weekly weigh in to help motivate me!! I would start the other diets well but I would always fall off the wagon!

So, I ditched the rest and joined SS online! Tomorrow will be my second weigh in and thankfully my motivation has been ok so far! I was just saying to my other half yesterday how motivated I have remained since starting PEP and I don't know why?! I think that I've realised that no miracle is going to happen and all my excess weight isn't going to disappear overnight! If I don't lose weight and follow a healthy diet I am a perfect candidate for lots of obesity related diseases and health concerns! My self esteem was an all time low and my bubbly personality was slowing becoming non existant.

The thought I keep in mind when I want to reach for the 5 packets of crisps, packet of biscuits and yummy cakes is that I deserve to be happy and healthy in this one and only chance at life and I'm not going to let anything stand in my way.

Good luck with your weight loss, keep up the good work! 2thumbs.gif

Shoe - i think i'm also a tad impatient, i just want instant results i guess (don't we all??? laugh.gif ) With needing to lose around 2.5-3st, it certainly isn't going to happen overnight!!
I'm going to Spain for a week in October, so would loooove to be at target by then if poss - and it's do-able, it just seems a long way off yet y_stare.gif
I'd love a spa day, would need to save hard for that tho (never say never.....)
I know i can do so much better, i.e exercise more etc, but like i said - it's hard for me to keep motivated, and then i get a bit down when i lose motivation y_cry.gif

minsyb - i was sooo fired up in my 1st week and lost 2lbs smile.gif Then, wasn't quite as fired up in my 2nd week - and gained half a lb y_cry.gif
Maybe that's why i'm a bit "low" this week, maybe i just need a loss to get me motivated again. Duh, bet that's why....dunno why that didn't cross my mind til now y_bag.gif I've had an okay week this week, so fingers x'd i get a loss at class on Wed - and that it gets me "back on track"

Sometimes i feel a bit daft saying these things, but i'm just being honest, and everyone's so nice that it makes me feel so much better than if i was bottling it up (that make sense??) I'm so grateful for the support on here - i really am hug.gif x

Shirls

I will send you a PM as there is someone else in Perth who coudl do with a help in hand to be motivated re exercise, especially since she signed up for the 10mile walk. You know you would be very welcome to join us for that if you like.

That would be a good insentive to get a wee bit of exercise in and all for a good cause.

What do you think?

That's the perfect motivation, target by October 2thumbs.gif It's a long way off but you know things creep up laugh.gif
I know what you mean about the motivation, I couldn't begin to count how many times I started a healthy regime (who hasn't) and quit but this time, I am going to get to target no matter what! It is sometimes a daily struggle to stay motivated but it can be done, if you want it!!! xx

Hi shirls give us a shout sometime and we could keep each other motivated with exercise etc

I wish we could bottle that enthusiasm from the first week.

I have lost on various plans over the years. They all work if you stick to them. Sticking to them is the problem - this plan is the most workable for real life.
I hope this time is different ( here we go again !) because I have a fitness goal: the moonwalk. Not got a date to work to. Also because I'm trying to change my routines and not be bothered when the scales blip up the way. Bodies are not machines or logical. They don't show the losses you want on the exact day that is convenient for you.

Keep going Shirls!

And lainey too. You've paid for a coach why have you not found out the details and
phoned them? It'll help a lot!

Just reading this has helped me feel less fed up with myself rolleyes.gif

How are you feeling now Shirls? It's hard isn't it? I had some eejit the other day at work say why was I paying to go to SS when it is so easy to lose weight y_rant.gif He was winding me up deliberately but truly did not understand angry.gif

I think I'd like to plan to do a charity walk or something then it would give me motivation at least to exercise.

Hope you've cheered up though hug.gif

Hey Mel butterfly.gif

Yeah, i was feeling quite low for a wee bit, posted a new topic recently about it y_cry.gif In a much better frame of mind now though, hope it lasts!!

I've had that before, someone said to me "why pay some woman to weigh you, just do it yourself. Ur wasting your time + money, It's easy - eat less, move more. It's simple" blah blah blah
Okay, i know this is true, but if it were that SIMPLE, we'd all be mega-slim. I just wanted to tell them to p*** off mad0234.gif
I mean - really, it's not needed, it just left me upset (didn't show it tho y_rasp.gif )

I'm glad it cheered you up hug.gif x

I keep the clothes I can't get into on top of my wardrobe and only get them down when I can feel the weight disappearing (they are getting emptier).

My coach is my main source of motivation. I always feel better after ringing her no matter how rubbish a week I've had.

I also find little things to concentrate on e.g. how much my collar bone sticks out. There's also something we've found helpful in the team challenge (which is motivation in itself) - listing 3 small things you've done that day which help you to stay on track. There's a post somewhere.

Good luck.

I know this might seem a bit mean but it worked for me!! I printed off a picture of Michelle McManus in her swimming costume.

http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m2/dec2005/...C01AC1BF814.jpg

Everytime I feel like giving up, I look at this picture and say, thats what I'll look like on my holidays if I keep up my bad habits!

Sorry if I seem a bit evil!!! On the plus side, she doesnt look like that anymore!!

Sometimes I take 5 minutes to stop and think about why I'm doing it, I'm getting married next year so I imagine myslef in my dress and how good it would feel to be slim. It's easy to give up and get annoyed - cos all the things I crave are unhealthy!!!

Not saying it works all the time but it's worth a try!!!
shirls
laugh.gif nah, it's not evil - i'm away to have a look at that site now xx
