Hello everybody and welcome to the first of the classes to be hosted by myself and RebelSue. I am really looking forward to this and I hope I don’t disappoint biggrin.gif. I just want to say a quick thank you to Catrina for inspiring and motivating us all, she has left big shoes to fill lol… so here goes…..

The topic this week is home made take aways. You can make delicious food at home that is just as good as a take away if not better and it will be tastier and healthier. The inspiration for this is I made Thai red curry from scratch last week and it was really simple and delicious and last night I attempted Bombay potatoes which again were really tasty and because I knew what was in them I didn’t have to estimate my checks.
My challenge for
you this week should you choose to accept is to have a bash at making your own healthy home made take away, be it a curry, fish and chips or pizza. Be sure to drop in and let us all know how you get on biggrin.gif

To give you an idea I looked at my check book for a comparison – Thai red chicken curry in the going out book is 16chx and I am pretty sure this doesn’t include the rice. My version using light coconut milk and including boiled basmati rice & 2 poppadums came to 20 chx, based on 60g rice, 100g chicken breast per portion.

Bombay potatoes in the eating out book are 15 chx per typical serving, my version based on 300g potatoes is 11. I will post the recipes in the recipe section if anybody fancies trying them.


Ok on to special mentions and losses, an extra special mention to Suzanne Hwang who has lost 2lbs which has taken her to her 1/2st mini target - WELL DONE! Another extra special mention to T-bird Audrey – who has proved going back to basic works, by losing an amazing 7lbs! GO AUDREY!!! Well done to Pete for losing 3lbs and Kop Queen for losing 4lbs, you are all super stars. 2thumbs.gif 2thumbs.gif 2thumbs.gif

This week we have lost a brilliant 1st 5 & 3/4lbs had 2 STS and a tiny wee 1/2lb gain. Well done everybody you are doing so well – keep up the amazing work!!!! y_woot.gif 1983.gif

Woo hoo, thanks for the big mention y_woot.gif I'm pleased to report that I have lost 3 pounds this week. Takes me up to 10 pound loss so far!

I hope you wont mind if I don't take you up on your challenge this week, kateyboo. I've had my heart set on a bog standard takeaway for a few weeks now so I'm starting to save my checks. I'd appreciate a break from cooking and, besides, the local Chinese takeaway is one of the best for miles around.

However, I would love to see your recipes. Yes, please post them for us 2thumbs.gif

Of course I dont mind lol, I remember doing the same - I said that once I had lost 7lbs I was having a chinese take away and it was one of the best I have ever had lol - so enjoy every delicious bite biggrin.gif

I had some bad news at the weekend a very close family friend is very unwell.
So i've picked then i've not ate oh its like a pattern all weekend to be honest, but i am happy to report a stay the same for me y_woot.gif so i need to be good this week as i only have 3lb to lose to be back at target i really am playing about at the moment need a good kick up the butt.
I am going to take up your challenge kateyboo and cook the whole family something on friday when i am off i'll let you know how i get on.

just a wee lb off for me this week - bit frustrated as im soooo close to losing 2st (just 1lb to go now) - Zumba on Saturday! and im going to step up the brisk walking - I just want to get into the next weight range now and its so close I can taste it (probably not the best phrase to use lol) - plus i've been having really rapid weight loss so far and i think im starting to slow down a bit now - ho hum - i havent been in the 12st range in about 10 years and im quite excited about it lol

Hi i folllowed the challenge last night and made lemon chicken and rice for tea out of the assian and oriental book and it was yummy lipsmacking.gif i enjoyed every mouthful and will be making it again even my husband enjoyed it 2thumbs.gif
i have also got out my slow cooker and i am in the middle of making a chunky veg and chicken soup yum yum.

gr8 post.....gd idead about the home made takeaway, i made chicken n bacon salad pasta pot which was so much lower in chx than the bought version and more njoyable .....delicious!! i lost 2 pounds this week and my wi day is mon
